Valuation remains fundamental to our investment discipline in a rapidly changing investment environment. We feel it is important to look at the big picture and see how the two crises in quick succession have impacted the investment backdrop in Europe. Policymakers’ response is clearly very different to post GFC as fiscal austerity has been replaced with fiscal expansion.
James will explore what the longer-term consequences of these changes are and what this means for investment opportunities in Europe.
Andrew Downing is an Associate Director in the Invesco UK Discretionary Sales Team responsible for relationships with International and UK Banks, Asset Managers and Discretionary Fund Managers. Andrew has been working with Invesco Asset Management Limited since 2012 and has held a number of distribution roles across EMEA, these include being based in the Middle East where he was responsible for Global Cross Border Distributors, Banks and Discretionary Wealth clients and in the UK where he held regional responsibilities for IFA’s and Brokers.

David has been with Invesco for 14 years and has responsibility for IFA, wealth and discretionary managers in London and South-East. David has worked in Financial Services for 21 years, performing a number of roles in Capital Markets at GMAC RFC and Barclays Bank. David has a degree in Politics.
James Rutland joined Invesco in June 2020 as a Fund Manager within the Henley Investment Centre’s European Equities team.
James began his investment career in 2008 at Evercore Partners before joining Goldman Sachs as a Research Analyst within the European Industrials team in 2010. In November 2014, James joined Schroders as an Analyst in the European Business Cycle Team before becoming a Fund Manager in 2016.
James holds a BSc in Economics from University College London and is a CFA Charterholder.
Paul Jackson, Global Head of Asset Allocation Research
As Global Head of Asset Allocation Research at Invesco, Paul analyses how the asset allocation process is impacted by behavioural considerations, major long-term themes and economic/geo-political events. Prior to joining Source (and Invesco), Paul worked at Société Générale in both Paris and London, holding positions as Macro Specialist Sales, Equity Strategist and Global Head of Research, during which time he wrote under “The Belgian Dentist” label. He started his career at Morgan Stanley in London where he worked in Corporate Finance and Equity Research before transferring to New York where he joined Morgan Stanley Asset Management as Portfolio Manager. He holds a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a Master of Philosophy in Economics from Oxford.
